He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Doherty and Irene Dennison Doherty. He is survived by: his wife Janice Doherty; his sons, William Doherty (Bill) and Kevin Doherty (Lisa); his stepsons, James Ryan Lyda (De Ann) and Damon Lyda (Eva); his daughter Irene Doherty-Carbone (Steve); his brothers, Robert Doherty (Betty) and Jim Doherty; and his grandchildren, Stephen Carbone, Sean Doherty, Kevin Doherty, Carter Lyda, Alicia Lyda and Vega Lyda.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Cornerstone Fund Samaritan Ministries, Winston-Salem NC (http://www.samaritanforsyth.org) or St Jude Children's Hospital.
