He was predeceased by: his wife Sallie Robertson Waden; and his brothers, Ernest Waden, J. W. Waden and D. C. Waden. He is survived by: his children, Betty Waden Hope and Wesley Gibson of High Point, NC; his sister-in-law Myrtle Waden Ingram of High Point, NC; his grandchildren, Brian Hope (Jamaica) and Kimberly Hope; his great grandchildren, Erica, Christopher (Doreen), Krisnia, Faith and Naliah; and his close friends, Doris Ashworth, Ida Covington, Evelyn Jones, James, Sarah Oglesby, McGuire and Bob Bradford. He is also survived by four great-great-grandchildren; other special family members; aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
