He was predeceased by: his parents, Reverend Albert Blanding, Sr. and Viola Wall; and his siblings, Wilbur Blanding, Albert Blanding, Jr., Adam "Mickey" Wall, Emma Singleton, Elizabeth Blanding and Eloise Blanding Wood.

He is survived by: his significant other Barbara Cotton Blanding; his sons, Maurice Blanding (Rachel) of Smyrna, GA, Anthony Gill of Charlotte, NC and Chris Gill (Jean) of Greensboro, NC; his sisters, Betty Jean Reid of Concord, NC and Deborah Blanding Watkins (Melvin) of Albemarle, NC; his grandchildren, Nichole Lucas (Marcus), Jasmine Gill, Anthony Gill, II (Jenna), Kaytlyn Gill, Iiysha Keomany-Gill, Tavin, Daxton Gill and Marley Blanding; and his great grandchildren, Alexandria Gill of Marcus Lucas, II and Anthony Gill, III. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
