He was predeceased by: his parents, George Barnes and Edith Barnes; his wife Janet Yvonne Barnes; his son David Hess; and his siblings, Bretta, Ann, Judy, Debbie, Roger and Lee.
He is survived by: his daughter Karla Proctor (Donald) of High Point; his grandchildren, Jodi Flores (David) of High Point and William Hess of Wallburg; his great grandchildren, Kaylee and Hayden; and his brother Jerry Barnes of Mullins, WV. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
