He was predeceased by: his parents, Carnary Chavis and Amanda Bryson Chavis; his wife Janie Pearl Chavis; his daughter Angel Rocker; and his siblings, Mary Chavis, Shirley Streater, Freeman Chavis and Clarence Chavis.
He is survived by: his daughter Venus Nicholson (Pastor Miles Nicholson, Sr.) of Riverdale, GA; his grandchildren, Dr. Amanda Nicholson of Sandy Springs, GA, Miles Nicholson, Jr. of Riverdale, GA, Alexandria Nicholson of Savannah, GA and Arthur Rocker of Orlando, FL; his brothers, Lockwood Chavis (Mary) of Franklin, NC and Ross Chavis (Trudy) of Greensboro, NC; and his sisters-in-law, Peggy Springs of High Point, NC, Louise Martin of High Point, NC and Catherine Strong of Hamlet, NC.. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
