He was predeceased by: his brother David Andrew "Andy" Bates; and his grandparents, Charles Allen Bates, Fred and Betty Beamer. He is survived by: his parents, David Allen and Nellie Ann Beamer Bates; his sister Jennifer Bates; his nephews, William Randall Fisher and Andrew Brayden Fisher; his grandmother Jean Holbrook Bates; and his aunts and uncles, Richard (Beth Beamer), Fred "Mutt" Beamer, Robert (Janet Baity), Kathy Bates Casstevens (Jeff Groce) and Jo Anne Bates.
