He was predeceased by: his parents, Spurgon Eugene Whitley and Nellie Lynn Whitley; his wife Shirley S. Whitley; his daughter Debra Lynn Whitley; and his siblings, Lorene Dunlap and Robert Whitley.
He is survived by: his sons, Chris Whitley (Renee), Rob V. Whitley (Jennifer) and Jeffrey L. Whitley (Jan); his grandchildren, Amanda Whitley Wall (Eric), Stephanie Whitley (Dimitri Nickols), Zachary Whitley, Joshua Whitley, Jacob Whitley, Justin Whitley and Jessica Transeau; and his great grandchildren, Charlotte, Luke, Lauren and Ember.
