He is survived by: his wife Louise Lail Carswell; his children, Sheila Bunges, Connie (Louis Setzer), Sandy Carswell, Mark Carswell (Kim Carswell) and Keith Carswell; his son-in-law Fred Fortenberry; his grandchildren, Emily Bean, Ryan Bean, Riley Bean, Holly Carswell, Ethan Carswell, Taylor Dibenedetto, Kasey Carswell, Lane Carswell, Avery Carswell, Kelly Fortenberry, Katie Fortenberry and Mindy VanHorn; and his great grandchildren, Connor Carswell, Olivia Hoffman and Liam Carswell A.
