She was predeceased by: her parents, Stuart Hamby and Faye Wheeling Hamby; her husband Blair Kirby; and her siblings, Sylvester Hamby, Samuel Hamby, Beatrice Foster and Jean Simmons.
She is survived by: her children, Dwayne Kirby, Glenda Knight (Larry) of Morganton, Karen Colley (Rex) of Morganton and Catherine Kirby of Morganton; her siblings, Stanley Hamby (Anne) of Deep Gap and Christine Greene (Rex) of Deep Gap; and her grandchildren, Dreama Philyaw, April Felder, Keisha Bolick, Callie Norwood, Jennifer Dishman and Jeremy Powell.
Due to COVID-19 a private graveside service will be held at Closer Walk Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Pastor Keith Gilliam.
