He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles Blythe and Mac Blythe; his brother Robert Brevard Blythe; his sister-in-law Linda Trickett Blythe; and his niece Arden Blythe Correll (Sandra Trickett Lare).

He is survived by : his wife Alice Jean Rabb Blythe; his children, Charles E Blythe, II and Ashley Blythe Gibson (Jonathan); his grandchildren, Emily Blythe McPartland, Megan Blythe, Graysen Gibson and Harper Gibson; his great grandchildren, Blake and Remi McPartland; his nephew Brevard Blythe (Heather); and his niece Carrie Lare (Sarah Thomason).
