He is survived by: his wife Ellen Shinn; his sons, James Edward, Stephen Wayne (Jeanne) and Michael Burtley (Theo); his grandchildren, Kate Hunter (Jonathon), Graham Messer (Kelli), Larisa King (Robin), Glenn Rollins, III (Juliet) and Paul Messer (Erin); and his great grandchildren, Sylas, Phife (Hunter), Taylor, Meredith, Audry, Alyssa Rollins, Kailyn, Dylan and Charlotte Messer.
