She was predeceased by : her parents, George "Clarence" and Eliza "Lavinia" Mann Bumgarner; her husband Duane Childers; her children, David Childers and Barbara Childers; her brother Bill Bumgarner; her granddaughter Veronica Childers; and her daughter-in-law Cindy Childers.

She is survived by : her children, Dennis Childers (LaQueta), Jimmy Childers, Tommy Childers (Jackie) and Janice Rathbone; her siblings, Dot James (Wilson), Martha Arnold (Joel), Walter Bumgarner and Earl Bumgarner (Helen); her daughter-in-law Margaret Childers; her brothers-in-law, Clell Childers (Nellean) and Charlie Childers (Christine); her grandchildren, Karen Harper, Morgan Childers, Freda Childers, Jennifer Templeton, Andy Lopatin, Jeffrey Childers and Brian Messick; her great grandchildren, JaLisa Harper, Colton Ray Logan, Hadley and Darby Templeton; and her great great grandchildren, Malakhi and Zade. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was a member of Charity Baptist Church in Salem.
