He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Raymond and Vadie Wynne Modlin of Virginia; and his siblings, Raymond Gray Modlin, Ervin Hugh Modlin, Richard Allen Modlin, Mitchell Curtis Modlin, Margaret Modlin Dobson of Virginia and Wilda Yvonne Modlin Cahoon.
He is survived by: his wife Margaretta "June" Spruill Modlin; and his siblings, Paul Norman Modlin, Jackie Shelton Modlin, Mittie Catherine Modlin Ward, Vadie Jane Modlin Leggett and Virgie Louise Modlin Cherry.
