She was predeceased by : her parents, William "Robert" Hagar and Pearl Lippard Hagar; her husbands, Tommy Gatton and William "Bill" McCreary; her siblings, Robert Lee Hagar, Evelyn "Christine" Scott and Elizabeth Neal Patterson; her half-sister Annie Mae Woodall; her stepbrother Francis Ray Hagar; and her children, Eddie Gatton and Larry Gatton.

She is survived by : her daughter-in-law Shelia Gatton; her son David Gatton of Kannapolis; and her grandchildren, Tommy Gatton (Teresa), Tonda Milligan (Mike), Michelle Steeley (Gary), Michael Gatton (Deana), Gary Gatton (Summer) and Jennifer Scercy (Shane). She is also survived by many great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Genesis Baptist Church (9710 Old Concord Rd, China Grove, NC 28023).
