He was predeceased by: his parents, John William Staples and Ina Whitaker Staples; and his sisters, Carolyn Ozment and Sally Frye. He is survived by: his wife Jane Boggs Staples; his children, Kara Barnes (Brian) of Kernersville, NC and Johnny Staples (Farrah) of Clemmons, NC; his grandchildren, Emma Staples and Jack Staples; his nieces, Michele Donoho and Kristie Corl; and his nephew Scott Donoho (Jessica).
