He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, William Axson Smith, Sr. and Melba Vernelle Griffin Smith; his wife Melanie Mae Johnson; his sons, Christopher Ryan Smith (Emily) and Jason Matthew Smith (Ashley); his grandsons, Kade and Zane Smith; his brother William Axson Smith, Jr.; and his uncle Robert Smith of Belhaven.
