He is survived by : his wife Bonnie Poteat; his daughter Amy Poteat Kendrick (Joe); his grandsons, Benjamin and Elijah Kendrick; and his siblings, Kay Carter, Joyce Carter, Libby Haskin, Dean Poteat and Judy Simmons. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
