It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Stephen Murphree (Kings Mountain, North Carolina), born in Dickson, Tennessee, who passed away on July 6, 2020, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert Murphree and Mary Petty Murphree; his wife Thelma Murphree; and his siblings, John, Robert Murphree Jr. and Genevieve Hood.

He is survived by : his sons, Michael Murphree of Kings Mountain, Stephen "Danny" Murphree and Robert Murphree of Kings Mountain; his grandchildren, Matthew Steinfelt, Ashley Hylton Reed, Stephanie Butterfield, Samantha Murphree, Tessa Murphree and Megan Murphree; and his close friend Glenda Downey of Kings Mountain. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
