He was predeceased by: his mother Janet Hornberger Gobbel. He is survived by: his daughter Sydney A. Chason of Irmo, SC; his father J. Frederick Chason (Peggy Powell-Chason) of Chapin; his stepfather J. Bruce Gobbel of Hayesville, NC; his fiancée Melissa Thomas of Kinston, NC; and his siblings, Mieka C. Hughes (Joe) of Woodstock, Luann Powell Edens (Jay) of Bluffton, SC, Chad Powell (Liz) of Columbia, SC and Matt Powell (Lauren) of Chapin, SC. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews.
