He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Avery and Hazel Avery; his brother William "Billy" Avery; and his siblings-in-law, Shorty, Patsy Swindell and Buster Furr (Terri).
He is survived by: his wife Kay Furr Avery of Spring Arbor; his daughters, Gina Hill (Craig), Carla Monroe (Ivan) and Laura Monroe (Trevor); his grandchildren, Kellan Bryant (Jason), Stephen Avery (Jessica), Kristin Allison (Austin), Tase Monroe (Elizabeth), Jake Monroe and Megan Monroe; his great grandchildren, Matthew, Jaden, Conner, William and Mackenzie; his sisters, Marilyn Owens (Brooks) and Mavis Taylor; and his sister-in-law Sandy Taylor (Roland).
