He is survived by: his children, Estelle Pate Marshburn (Dolphus) of Kinston, Sandy Pate (Lynwood Quinn) of Kinston and Heber Bruce Pate (Theresa) of Creedmoor; his son-in-law Julian Clay Dudley of Winterville; his brother Robert Pate (Brenda) of Florida; his grandchildren, Lori Dudley Smith (Mike), Mandy Dudley, Jeannie Dudley Miller (Ken), Stephen Marshburn (Dana), Chris Marshburn (Melissa), Leslie Pate Matthis (Wrenn) and Ron Frazak (Amanda); his great grandchildren, Riley Smith, Brodie Smith, Declan Smith, Julianne Miller, Kara Marshburn, Kyndall Marshburn, Caroline Marshburn, Tim Hyde (Allyson), Peyton Matthis and Haley Matthis; and his great great grandchild Raelyn Hyde.
