He was predeceased by: his parent Robert Gilmer; and his sister Carol Moore. He is survived by: his parent Eliza Ann Mewborne Foster; his wife Peggy S. Foster; his stepson Dennis E. Stocks; and his siblings, Robert Gilmer Foster, Jr. (Susan) of Swan Quarter and Ann Mewborne Foster Checkway (Harvey) of San Diego, California. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Kinston, 711 Phillips Rd., Kinston, NC 28504.
