She was predeceased by: her parents, John Whitney Bates and Edna Earl Brown; and her husband Rodney Mitchell Chapman. She is survived by: her brother William Calvin Baugh (Beverly) of Wilmington; her children, Lisa Anne Chapman of Wilmington, Bradley Bates Chapman of Kinston, David Russell Chapman (Cindy) and Hise Chapman (Scarlett) of Graham; her grandchildren, Heath Chapman (Tracey), Dana Chapman Hughes (Lucian), Maggie Chapman Hubbard (Robert), Whit, Jack, Abbie, Josh and Anna Chapman; and her great grandchildren, Grayson Chapman, Olivia Hughes and Whitney Hughes.
