He is survived by: his wife Laverne Voss Burks; his children, Debra Schreckengost of Kinston, Brian Keith Burks (Carolyn) and James Alan Burks (Betty) of Kinston; his sisters, Linda Lescarini (Franco) of Arab, AL and Renee Carter of Albertville, AL; and his grandchildren, Shawn Williams, Kristin Burks of Raleigh, NC, Brandon Burks of Concord, NC, Blaik Flores of Los Angeles, CA, Jonathan Burks and Jeremy Burks of Kinston. He is also survived by two great-granddaughters and four great-grandsons.
