He was loved and cherished by many people including: his daughters, Sheri Green Whitfield (Ross) of Greenville and Kelly Green Barfield (Bernie) of Kinston; his grandchildren, Peyton Barfield of Winterville and Karsen Barfield of Winterville; and his siblings, Patsy Nicholson Rolland of Comfort and Ronald "Gene" Green (Faye Murphy Moore) of Comfort.
