It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rachel Mason of Kinston, North Carolina, born in Trenton, North Carolina, who passed away on July 12, 2020, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Elijah Ward and Ella Kornegay Ward; her husband James Willie Mason Jr.; her sisters, Ella Ward Williams, Mary Ward Hicks and Sudie Mae Ward; and her sons, Anthony Ward and Clarence Jones.
She is survived by: her children, Mable Ward Givens (Lloyd) of Winterville, Linda Ward Best (James) of Kinston, Rosalind Ward Bern of Kinston, Thurman Ward (Freda) of Greensboro, James Mason Jr. of Pollocksville, NC and Felton Mason (Lisa) of Snowhill, NC; her sisters, Carrie Ward Boney of Kinston, Evangeline Ward Outlaw of Kinston and Daisy Payton of Trenton, NC; and her siblings-in-law, Frances Mason of Grifton, NC, Deloris Mason Atkinson (Jasper) of Baltimore, MD, Robert Mason (Loisteen) of Baltimore, MD and Ray Mason of Hookerton, NC.
