She was predeceased by: her parents, David James Carter and Molly Koonce Carter; her son-in-law Tony Jones; and her siblings, Kay Mobley and Ray Carter.
She is survived by: her husband Willie James Houston; her children, Sandy Jones of Kinston, Kathy Pike (Joe) of Kinston and James Houston (Candace) of Pink Hill; her grandchildren, Melissa Lucas (Brian), Shannon Jones (Jason), Rebecca Pike (George Bryan), Adam Pike (Kelsey), Ashley Tunn (Michael), Heather Rainoshek (Matthew), Amelia Redding and Jamie Houston; her siblings, Valeria Stallings and Larry Carter (Glenda); and her sister-in-law Peggy DeHart (Jay). She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jackson Heights Free Will Baptist Church, 285 Camellia Street, Kinston, NC 28504.
