He was predeceased by: his parents, Ozias Stapleford and Mary Gore Stapleford; his wife Doris Jeanette Ray Stapleford; and his siblings, Lorena Stapleford Fordham, Myrtie Keel and William Dallas Stapleford.
He is survived by: his sons, Sam and Samuel Thomas Stapleford, Jr.; his wife Danese of Nashville; his daughters, Annette Faulkner Hocutt (Gary) of Atlantic Beach and Lorena Ray McLawhorn (David) of New Bern; his grandchildren, James Scott Faulkner of Kinston and Tamara Quarles of North Wales, PA; his great grandchildren, Lex Faulkner of Kinston and Tessa Quarles of North Wales, PA.; his sibling's children, Lionel Stapleford and Anne Pully; Band.
The family would like to thank Dr. and Mrs. Okonkwo and staff at Hope Physicians, Kindred at Home, Community Hospice and the staff at Herritage Elite, especially Nikki, for her compassionate, untiring devotion to "Mr. Sam."
