He is survived by: his mother Linda Grant; his sons, Walter Rex "Ricky" Herring, III and Keith Leon Herring; his siblings, Anita Herring Conklin of Kinston and David Vance Herring (Missy) of Kinston; his nieces, Rinna and Reece Conklin; and his nephew Peyton Herring.
