He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Byrd and Dollie Byrd Fussell; and his siblings, Henry Byrd, Clifton Byrd, James Byrd, Maziebell Heath and Hazel Mae Barley.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Marie Byrd; his children, William L Byrd, Jr. and Benita Jean Byrd Rodriguez; his stepdaughter Amanda LaPorto Pitcher; his sisters, Marjorie Price of Kinston, Louise McPhatter of Jacksonville, Inez Fields of Kinston and Margaret Helen Herring of Kinston; and his grandchildren, Noel Rodriguez Jr., William L Byrd III, Isabella Rodriguez, Kaitlyn Armstrong, Gabriella Pitcher and Colton Pitcher.
