He was predeceased by: his parents, Delma B. Tart and Ruth Flossie Smith Tart; his wife Georgelene Jenette Welborn Tart; and his sons, Brian Tart and Jeff Tart.
He is survived by: his children, Harold Gregory Tart of Wendell and Kimberly Ann Tart Ayscue of Knightdale; his grandchildren, Justin, Kaycie, Jesse, Stephanie, Savannah, Tater, Jacklynn and Jon-Jon; and his great grandchildren, Hayden, Holden and Finley.
