He is survived by: his wife Mertie Cathey; his children, Beronica Cathey of Knightdale, Von Swiderski (Joseph) of Prosper, TX and Robert Cathey of Palmdale, CA; and his siblings, Jean Alston of Wheatley Heights, NY, Earlean Douglas (Wesley) of Westbury, NY, Alice Morris of Glendale Heights, IL, Barbara John of Wheatley Heights, NY, Jacqueline Cleveland (Cedric) of Wheatley Heights, NY and Coleman Cathey, Jr. of Lynnwood, WA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
