He was predeceased by: his brothers, Donald Turnage and Billy Turnage. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Jones Turnage; his son Dean Turnage (Ashar) of Bunn; and his siblings, Willy Turnage of Rolesville, Emma Ray (Robin) of Louisburg, Diana Brannan (Fred) of Castle Hayne and Barbara Vazquez.
