He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert H. Gates and Isabella Bailey Gates; and his son Michael David Gates. He is survived by: his son Brian Gates (Norma); his stepchildren, Steve Smith (Yuzette) and Stacey Savage (Marshall); and his grandchildren, Kinley, Bailee, Loryn and Michael.
