He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton Strickland and Viola Goins Strickland; his daughter Anna Teresa; and his siblings, Charles Strickland, Margaret S. Quick and Idela S. Strong.
He is survived by: his wife Bessie Strickland; his children, Colden "Mitchell" Strickland (Kateria) of Laurinburg, Rev. Steve Strickland (Janice) of Pembroke, Tony Strickland (Laurie) of Laurinburg, Rev. Randy Strickland (Kim) of Laurinburg and Cheryl Newman (Jerry) of Laurinburg; his brothers, Miller Strickland, Donnie Strickland, Bracey Strickland and Tracey Strickland; his grandchildren, Caleb (Leigh-Kendra), Britney (Steven), Chelsea (Tyler), Makayla, Kali (Zach), Kasey, Alyssa, Faith, T. J., Nikki, Luke and Eli; and his great grandchildren, Brayden, Kayson, Caisley Jo, Nautica, Kinsley and Lilyana.
