She was predeceased by: her parents, Elbert Clinton and Annie Mae Penny Abernethy; her husband Edward Walter; her daughter Lois Z. Thomas; her sisters, Alleen McFadyen and Francis Herndon; and her granddaughter-in-law Lula Ann Thomas.
She is survived by: her siblings, Jack Abernethy (Dora) of Laurinburg and Helen Burdell of Columbus, GA; her son-in-law Bob Thomas of Laurinburg; her grandchildren, Deno Thomas of Laurinburg, Michele Hegwer (Ken) of Laurinburg and Robie Thomas (Gail) of Laurinburg; her great grandchildren, Courtney H. Reed, Cayleigh Hegwer and James Steven Hudson; and her great great grandchildren, Hailie Cummingscox, Bobby Malcolm Cox, Joshua Reed, Kenleigh Reed and Brenna Reed.
