He was predeceased by: his parents, Eluas Pierce and Annie Jane Chavis Pierce; his wife Gladys Chavis Pierce; his son Elmer; his daughter-in-law Marilyn Pierce; his daughter Susan Diane Pierce; his granddaughter Tosha Smiling; and his siblings, Margaret Maynard, Erwin, Charles and Curtis Pierce.
He is survived by: his children, Linda Pierce Jones (Kenneth) of Colfax, NC, Cordelia Welch (Wade Jones) of Pembroke, NC and Hoyt Pierce (Ernestine) of Rowland, NC; his sister Lucille Clark (Ray) of Maxton, NC; and his grandchildren, Brandi, Kenny, Sean, Marcus, Natalie, Melissa, Hoytney, Kimmy, Teresa, Techa and Lisa. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
