It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Hazel Carnes of Laurinburg, North Carolina, who passed away on January 10, 2021, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Hazel Carnes to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Wesley Owens and Susan Irene Pittman Owens; her husband Ned Lewis Carnes, Sr.; her son Lewis Carnes; and her siblings, Wilber Owens, Jasper Owens, David Owens, Bobby Owens and Lois Elkins.
She is survived by: her son George "David" Carnes (Stacie) of Sanford; her siblings, Maurice "Buck" Owens, Grace McDonald, Carolyn Stone, Rachel Everitte and Mabel Osborne; and her grandchildren, Ashley Locklear (Marcus), Nathan Carnes and Nicholas Carnes. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends following the service with COVID restrictions of facial masks, social distancing with limited attendance at all services.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be given to New Hope Baptist Church, 11480 Hasty Road, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
