She was predeceased by: her parents, James Kelly Dowless and Celia Gyton Dowless; her husband Herman Phillips; her son Dominick Vitale; and her siblings, Elbert Dowless, Kelly Dowless, Jr. and Eunice Davis.
She is survived by: her children, Ralph R. Vitale (Donna) of Stedman, Joann Locklear (Thomas) of Laurinburg, Theresa Hancock (John) of Statesville, Marie Shaw (Neill) of Wagram and Sue Bodendorf (Chuck) of Patchouge, NY; her sisters, Rosa Seller of Bladenboro, Gracie Collins of Bladenboro and Dot Strunk of Arkansas; and her grandchildren, Kelly Locklear (Nikki), Brandi McBride (Kirk), Ralph Vitale, Jr. (Ashley), Carmin Russ (Adam), Lace Powell (Jamonte), Daniel Shaw III, C. J. Bodendorf and Amanda Bodendorf. She is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, a host of family and loving friends.
