We are sad to announce that on September 18, 2021, at the age of 88, Joyce Hamby (Laurinburg, North Carolina) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Alfred Bradley Shaw and Mattie Louise McMickle; her husband William "Grady" Hamby, Sr.; her grandson Christopher Carter; her sister Shirley Holsomback; and her nephew Alan Sides.
She is survived by: her children, William "Billy" Hamby, Jr. (Vichele) of Kannapolis, NC, Sandy Carter (Charles) of Laurinburg, Teresa Hamby (Colin) and NJ; her sisters, Johanna Aplin of Lutz, FL, Lola Sides of Inglewood, CA and Sandra Gonzalez of Hudson, FL; her siblings-in-law, Robert Holsomback of Menlo, GA and Martha Hamby of Patterson, NC; her grandchildren, Nelia Willis (Robert) of Clemmons, NC, Bradley Carter of Rocky Mount, NC and Maren Hamby of Durham, NC; her stepgrandchildren, Clint Carter, Andrew Campbell and Gwen Driver; her great grandchildren, James Willis and Sarah Driver; and her foster daughter Minna Hicks of Charlotte. She is also survived by nephews and nieces that she loved like her own children, and friends of her children.
