He is survived by: his mother Margaret Carpenter Smith; his wife Sara Locklear Smith; his children, Jonathan Smith of Laurinburg, Jacklyn Sue Moore (Steve) of Christiansburg, VA and Cassie Jacobs of Laurinburg; his grandchildren, Sydney Smith, Holden Higgins, Savannah Higgins, Landen Higgins, Joy Vallandingham and Joshua Thompson; and his great grandchild Nakitta Dial. He is also survived by his extended family and friends.
