He was predeceased by: his parents, Dan Chavis and Avie Jane Sanderson Chavis. He is survived by: his daughter Cherrill Goodwin (Chris) of Newport, NC; his grandchildren, Melissa Smith, Albert Smith, Patrick Smith (Crystal), Christopher Goodwin (Sharon) and Henry Goodwin; and his great grandchildren, Dalton Smith, Danica Smith, Jenna Smith, Wyatt Goodwin and Preston Goodwin.
