She was predeceased by : her parents, Angus Bowen and Fodie Strickland Bowen; her husband Edward Franklin Ellis; her son Mickey Ellis; her grandsons, Matt Ellis and Jacob Butler; her sisters, Julia Byrd and Viola Hardee; and her brother-in-law Bill Byrd.

She is survived by : her sons, Jim Ellis (June) of Laurel Hill and Robert Ellis (Lisa) of Ocean Isle; her daughter-in-law Jenny Ellis of Laurinburg; her grandchildren, Mitchell Ellis (Melissa) of Willis, TX, Michael Ellis (Suzanne) of Laurinburg and Blake Ellis of Ocean Isle, NC; and her nieces, Terry Williams (Mitch) of Laurinburg and Barbara Helms (Roland) of Bessemer City, NC. She is also survived by the numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
