With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Lou Smith (Laurinburg, North Carolina), born in Houston, Texas, who passed away on August 11, 2021 at the age of 97. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Mary Lou Smith to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Henry Carper and Anna Talbot Carper; her son Stephen Forrest Ficklin; and her siblings, Jack Carper, Dan Carper and Jane Herring.
She is survived by: her children, Jack Ficklin (Kelly) of Laurinburg, Virginia "Ginny" Ficklin Harrell (Ken) and Kathryn Ficklin Twiddy (Curtis) of Raleigh; and her sister Virginia Hubbard of Atlanta, GA.. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
