We bid farewell to Shirley Locklear Bowen of Laurinburg, North Carolina, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on March 12, 2025 at the age of 87. Shirley touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Raymond Locklear and Beaulah Locklear; her husband David H. Bowen; her son Jimmy Dean Bowen; her granddaughter Heather Bowen; and her siblings, Raymond Locklear, Jr., Margaret Winburn and Lowell Locklear.
She is survived by: her children, David "Mitchell" Bowen of Laurinburg, Keith Ryan Bowen (Bobbie) of Rowland, Eddie Wayne Bowen (Stephanie) of Laurinburg and Patsy Ann Bowen Delk (Malery) of Laurinburg; her siblings, Earl Locklear (Bobbie) of Laurinburg, Curtis Locklear (Jeannette) of Laurinburg, Myrtle Bowen of Tatum, SC, Annie Bass of Cheraw, SC and Virginia "Ginger" Smith of Petersburg, VA; her sisters-in-law, Ann Locklear and Joan Locklear of Aiken, SC; and her grandchildren, Shane "Shawn" Jones, Daniel Lynn Bowen (Amy), Jonathan Keith Bowen (Kimberly), Joshua Ryan Bowen (Alexis) and Megan Lynn Bowen (Dedrick). She is also survived by twenty-four great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of loving extended family.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 16th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel (13640 Andrew Jackson Hwy, Laurinburg, NC 28352). A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 17th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, March 17th 2025 at the Bowen Family Cemetery.
