He was predeceased by: his parents, Gurnie Shell and Colean Kincaid Shell; his sisters, Leona Shell Sanders and Norma Shell Barlow; and his aunt Betty Kincaid Clark.
He is survived by: his wife Martha Gilbert Shell; his children, Jimmy Dwayne Shell and Kathy Barlow Eller; his grandchildren, Kolby Eller, Laurel and Madison Shell; and his sister Janell Bryant Miller (Dale). He is also survived by numerous aunts and cousins.
