She was predeceased by: her parents, Irvin Lindsey Peninger and Adgie Edith Sink Peninger; her siblings, Paul Peninger, Mary Gulledge and Charlotte Crowson (Kenny Leonard); and her pets, Sissie Mae and Biggie.

She is survived by: her children, Michael Cope, Nathan Brown, Charlotte "Toots" Cope of Thomasville and Gracalee "Topsy" House of Lexington; and her grandchildren, Scotty House, Jessica Shaw, Jeremy House, Harley James and Cora Lewis.
