Ellen Lennon Edwards Obituary
Ellen Lennon Edwards, age 87, passed away on July 07, 2025. She was the second of four children born to Bert Thomas and Pritchard Lennon on October 01, 1937, in Columbus County, NC. Ellen was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Hubert "Wendell" Edwards. She is survived by two daughters, Karen Register (Chip) and Jacqueline Bouche-Butler (David); her cherished grandchildren, Joel Register, Laura Bailey, and Phillip Bouche; six great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; and two siblings, John Pritchard Lennon, Jr. (Jennifer) and Julie George (Allen).
She is also preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Lilly (Gene); her parents, Minnie Bert Thomas Lennon and John Pritchard Lennon, Sr.; and her grandparents, Minnie Ellen Edens Thomas, Neil Conrad Thomas, Alice Ethel Pridgen Lennon, and Quincy McManaway Lennon. A woman of unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, Ellen was a dedicated and active member of Grace Baptist Church in Wilmington, NC, serving in numerous roles throughout her adult life. Known for her smile and kind, easygoing nature, Ellen approached life's challenges with calm practicality, claiming "Most things will work themselves out by tomorrow," which they often did.
Ellen was the Valedictorian of her high school class at Acme-Delco High School. She found joy in reading, baking, gardening, and especially spending time with her beloved grandchildren, who adored their "Nana" in return. A true "girly-girl," she embraced all things feminine for as long as possible. For their extraordinary and compassionate care, the family extends immense gratitude to Carlo Feliciano and Cecil Feliciano, two amazingly dedicated nurses at Windsor Point CCRC of Fuquay-Varina. A celebration of life service will be held at Livingston Baptist Church in Delco, NC, and interment in Livingston Chapel Baptist Cemetery at a later date.
