Leland Caudill Kennedy Obituary
The world became a little less bright on May 10, 2025, with the passing of Lee Kennedy. Born on September 5, 1928, in Franklin County, NC Lee attended Mills High School in Louisburg, Kings Business College, and served in the US Air Force for 4 years. He was stationed in St John's Newfoundland where he met his first wife Kay. After her death he reunited with his high school sweetheart Patsy. He was so blessed to have two wonderful life partners. The majority of his career was spent working at Norfolk Southern /Southern Railroad in Raleigh and Atlanta. Lee was an active member of the Louisburg Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He loved travel, gardening, home repairs and mechanic work, watching western TV and movies, and working his daily crossword puzzle, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Lee was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He made every family event unforgettable by singing old folk songs.
Lee was predeceased by his first wife Catherine Harvey in 1990, his parents Glenn and Beulah Kennedy, sister Minda K. Fuller and brother Clinton Kennedy.
Lee is survived by his wife Patsy Leonard Kennedy, brother Graham C. Kennedy (Alice), son, Glenn J. Kennedy (Joy), daughters, Dianne K. Boylston (Brooks) and Maureen K. Cox (Ed), Paula D. Russell (Bill) and Melanie Davis, grandchildren Christy B. Moore, Brooks Boylston, Angela Kennedy, Jonathan Kennedy, Jason Kennedy, Adam Kennedy, Catherine Cox, Derek Russell, and Natalie Russell in addition to 15 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 1:00pm at Louisburg Baptist Church, 302 N. Main St., Louisburg, NC and will be officiated by Rev. David Averette. The family will receive friends and visitors immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
