He was predeceased by : his parents, Onnie Pearson and Doris Mason Pearson; his siblings, Sandy Pearson and Jerry Pearson; and his nephew Ray Batchelor, Jr..

He is survived by : his wife Clara Bass Pearson; his daughter Christie Taylor (Joey) of Kenly; his sisters, Kathy Temple of Lucama, Windy McCloud of Lucama and Lori Moore (Robert) of Lucama; and his grandchildren, Jonathan Gardner (Lindsey), Chris Brandon Mooring (Alyshia), Joel Taylor (Naomi Johnson) and Ashlee Taylor. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and five nieces.
